Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) is a progressive vein disease where the valves in the leg veins become weakened or damaged. As a result, blood fails to flow properly back toward the heart and instead pools in the legs. Symptoms include leg swelling (especially around ankles), heaviness, aching, visible varicose veins, skin discoloration or thickening, itching, and in severe cases non‐healing ulcers. Risk factors include age, genetics, pregnancy, obesity, prolonged standing or sitting, and a history of blood clots or varicose veins.
